Humantay Lake Tour Cusco 2023

What to Expect on my Humantay Lake Day Tour from Cusco

If you don’t have the time to do the Salkantay Trek, then we highly recommend you take the 1-day tour to Lake Humantay. The trek goes to the base of the glacial Humantay Mountain which the Humantay Lake sits. The serene beauty of this turquoise lake is something that should not be missed!

The combination of the glacial water melting off the mountain combined with the algae in the lake, blue sky, and surrounding forestry make a deep turquoise color that is something truly to be seen.

As far in advance as possible is best, so that we may reserve your spot for transportation. You may reserve this tour up until 2 days prior to the tour. Do note that March through November is the dry season. The hike will run year-round but be prepared for rain at the other times of the year.

The Humantay Lake Tour is a high altitude, strenuous hike with constant changing weather conditions. The start of the hike is 4,900 m or 12,795 ft. You will climb to just over 13,780 ft. or 4200 m. We can provide a horse for you to rent, but you need to be in good physical and cardiovascular shape due to the altitude. Try to spend 2 or 3 days in Cusco (3400m) prior to starting the trek. It is just not safe nor enjoyable to do this trek during the rainy season.  Check out our blog post on the best time to visit. This goes into extensive detail about the weather.
